Are you looking for ways of improving your coyote hunting skills? Or do you want to become more efficient with other predators or perhaps snow geese? Are you tired of using mouth calls that take away more of your energy than they actually lure in animals? What you need to consider are electronic callers, more precisely, the Lucky Duck Riot E-Caller.

We know how hard finding the right e-caller can be, especially since there are so many different models available out on the market. And when you start to factor in the price tag, the quest for the best caller gets even more complicated. However, we’ve done the research and made this review to make your search much easier.

In this Lucky Duck Riot review, we will “go under the hood” of this caller and check all the bells and whistles to find out what all the buzz is about. You will see what it offers, what to expect, and how to operate it (don’t worry, operating this caller is a lot easier than you think). Keep reading to find out more.

Lucky Duck Riot Electronic Predator Caller

Quick Feature Snapshot

The Riot is another very popular e-caller from Lucky Duck. It is significantly lighter in comparison to the Revolt (only 2.15 pounds, whereas the Revolt weighs 4.7 pounds) and slightly smaller, which makes it very portable and easy to fit in a standard size backpack.

Furthermore, the caller includes 50 pre-loaded calls, which were recorded personally by the famous Rick “The Verminator” Paillet. You also get a useful remote for stealth sound activation from more than 300 feet away, even when not in line of sight.

Here are the full pros and cons of this model:

  • Remote control with color LCD screen
  • Built-in motorized decoy with erratic decoy movement to draw predators in close
  • 50 pre-loaded sounds for predators, crows,
  • Four favorite buttons for easy recall
  • Four remote channels allowing multiple callers to be controlled by one remote
  • The Riot runs on a total of 13 AA batteries, 10 AA for the base unit and 3 AA batteries for the remote control. Batteries are not included.
  • AUX speaker jack
  • Expandable to 2,000 MP3-, WAV- and LD-formatted sounds.
  • 1 year manufacturer warranty

  • Tripod is not included
  • Only 50 pre-recorded sounds (other, more expensive models usually have 100+ sounds)

Let get a better insight into the Riot caller by starting with the overall design.

Design – Durable and Portable

The design of the Lucky Duck Riot e-caller, as with all other products from this manufacturer, has the hunter in mind. This means that the unit is well constructed and it won’t fall apart after first few hunts. In fact, it will last for many seasons of hunting as long as you are careful and don’t drop it on hard surfaces such as rocks or pavement (while you are getting it ready at home) and you don’t submerge it into water as it isn’t waterproof.

Likewise, the design of the caller shell allows easy storage and carrying, and you can place the fluffy tail decoy and the remote inside the caller itself when you’re not using it.

Riot Electronic Caller - Lucky Duck

If you keep in mind the tips we just gave you, this e-caller will become your regular hunting partner and it will even withstand some rough walks through bushy hunting grounds and you don’t have to worry about the speaker getting punctured. However, for the best protection, it is recommended to keep it in a carry bag until you actually get to the spot you plan on using it.

Fluffy Tail Decoy Included As Standard

Unlike other brands, all the Lucky Duck callers include a decoy, giving you more options to mix up your hunt and attract your prey. The included decoy sits on top of the caller and is held in place with a magnet on the bottom and a stud to line it up and hold it in place for the motor.

Using the remote, you are able to turn the decoy on and off, alternate its spinning direction and change between the 3 speeds available to create the perfect distraction and intrigue for your prey.

Once you are finished using it, the decoy slides into the carry handle for storage plus there is a cap to protect the opening where the decoy attaches to prevent any water or dirt damage.

Not only does the handle serve as a nifty storage area, Lucky Duck have ensured it has a solid rubber grip so it won’t slip while carrying it by hand.

Sound – Clear and Loud

As for the quality of sound, the Riot didn’t get that name for nothing as it really creates a riot in the animal kingdom with the volume and authenticity of the played animal calls.

What’s best, the speaker used for this unit is top-notch quality so the pre-recorded sounds don’t distort as you turn up the volume. You will be surprised how loud it actually is on the highest volume setting and how realistic the calls still sound. You will have an impression that you got a unit that should be in the much higher price range.

Speaking of the sounds, this unit comes with 50 preloaded animal calls all logically placed in different folders that are easy to access. You get puppy distress calls, predator calls, and even birds fighting. To top it all off, they are nicely packed in different, easy to access folders.

But, if relying only on the preloaded sounds is not your thing and you like to use your own sounds, you can easily add up to 2000 additional sounds. All you have to do is upload them on the SD card and arrange them according to your own folder preference and the display on the remote will nicely show each of them.

Just keep in mind that the files you upload on the card have to be either in MP3, wav, or LD formats in order for the caller to be able to successfully read and play them.

Riot Programmable E-Call Remote - Lucky Duck

Remote – Your Hunting Assistant

Just like with the caller unit itself, the Lucky Duck company has put an exceptional effort to designing an easy to use, effective controller for the Riot e-caller. The buttons are easy to use and push while the display is very bright (with dimming options for night hunting) and offers all the information an avid hunter requires.

If you take a look at the manual, you will see that it says that the remote will operate the caller unit up to 100 yards. But the hunters that already own this model will tell you that it can operate to up to 300 yards, without even being in the line of sight. Perfect for not blowing your cover, wouldn’t you agree?

In general, we are pretty sure that you will be quite pleased with the Riot’s remote controller as it comes with an excellent grip, as well as with a big and quite easy to understand display that allows operation without even looking at it due to nicely arranged and easy to press, large buttons.

Other Important Features of The Riot

It’s also important to mention that you will find an auxiliary port, external speaker port, recharging port, and the SD card slot under the rubber cover at the back of the unit.

Lucky Duck ECaller Battery And Charger Kit

Furthermore, you need to be aware of the fact that recharging the batteries will become a necessity because the Riot eats them up quite quickly. As a matter of fact, you will need a total of 13 AA batteries to use this predator caller, with 10 batteries just for the caller while the remote uses three.

They are not included in the standard package when you buy the Riot, but Lucky Duck does sell high-quality rechargeable batteries which will serve you for many seasons if stored and handled properly.

Verdict on The Lucky Duck Riot Predator E-Caller

When you take all the things we went over into consideration, the Lucky Duck Riot E-Caller is definitely a recommendable unit for both the experienced and rooky hunter.

It is fitted with all the standard features one should expect from a more expensive e-caller. For example, you have a built-in removable decoy, aux and exterior speaker ports, favorite buttons selection, and, what’s most important, a variety of loud and crystal-clear predator luring sounds.

So, if you are in the market for a great budget friendly e-caller that will dramatically boost your kills, the Lucky Duck Riot E-Caller is one we highly recommend.
