Coyote hunting is a passion and a hobby that often requires a lot of investment from anyone interested in it.
There are guns, ammunition, blinds, permits, and a whole host of other things that can quickly suck up all of your time and money. Calls are often purchased cheaply and rely on your abilities to conjure up those pesky predators.
Our FOXPRO Wildfire review will help you decide if you want to invest dollars in this predator caller to help increase your chances of success in the field as a predator hunter. After all, before you can take that long-range shot, you’ve got to get that coyote called into your area!
***This is a great caller but unfortunately you won’t be able to get it from the manufacturer anymore and will need to check out second-hand sites or other big chain outdoor stores in order to nab this caller.
Overview of the FOXPRO Wildfire
FOXPRO has tons of different game calls on the market and this FOXPRO Wildfire 2 is one of the most lightweight coming in at just 1.5 pounds! The entire thing is designed to be as helpful as possible without making you endure tons of tweaks, changes, or programming while out in the field.
This is an effective call and runs on AA batteries but only takes 4. For the most part, the batteries last for 30 or 40 hours so unless you’re planning to run it for the whole weekend while you’re out, you won’t need to carry too many spares with you.
There are lots of great features that come in this small package! To remain effective, the call is easy to program and create some of the best calls your local predators have heard.

FOXPRO Wildfire Key Features
This is an easy to use upgrade on the original Wildfire and has tons of great handy features! Before you can tell great hunting stories though, you’ve got to get the coyotes or other predators called in; the Wildfire 2 is a great way to do it.
Unit Design
The unit comes with two pieces, the remote and the speaker itself. The speaker and housing components have a handle on the top that makes it easy to tote on and off the field when you’re out hunting. While this has just one single speaker, you can attach more external speakers to create a louder call or one that has a bit more resonance. There’s also an option to mount this to a tripod although the tripod isn’t included in the kit.
Speaker Volume
Though the unit is small at a weight of just under 2 pounds, it is mighty! The sounds that this speaker produces are crisp and clear even when turned up to maximum volume.
Add in an external speaker via the auxiliary jack to boost the volume level or create more ambiance if you desire but relying on the single speaker does wonder for calling in any game.
Remote Technology
The remote control features a well-lit LCD display screen that makes it super easy to run and handle the whole setup. You can keep a careful eye on the sounds and calls being played, the volume of them, how much battery power is left, and how long your call has been running.
It also has large clear button labels and and a backlight screen so that it is easy to use when the lighting is reduced.
Sounds / Calls
This caller comes with 35 pre-programmed sounds available and the ability to add up to 200 more electronic calls through the online program onto a memory card. You can then organize and store them where they’re most convenient for use in the field. The sound quality is of course what you would expect coming from FOXPRO.
Decoy
Other calls in the FOXPRO lineup come with a decoy that you can operate remotely to bring in the game and keep them engaged. For all the easy-to-use bells and whistles with this call, it doesn’t come with a decoy. You can use one but it can’t be easily operated with the remote for the same call.
Batteries
Since this unit is compact, it doesn’t require as many batteries as many others on the market. You only need four AA alkaline batteries to run the speaker and as well as a single 9v battery to get the remote working.
The batteries do last for a long time so you won’t need to change them for fresh batteries every time you head out to the field. Keeping a few on backup with your hunting kit just in case the battery life is up is definitely a good idea though!
As you will be sure to use this caller for many years, you may also want to consider getting some rechargeable batteries, to save some dollars in the long run.
Warranty
FOXPRO offers a 3-year limited warranty on this call like many of the others in their line-up. This gives you plenty of time to try out the call to see if it suits your tastes and preferences while out hunting. If you don’t like it, send it back for a refund or to exchange it for something else!
FAQS
How much does Wildfire 2 cost?
Unfortunately, FOXPRO doesn’t have the Wildfire 2 for sale anymore so you’ll need to look elsewhere to find it!
One of the best places to get a good deal on Wildfire 2 is to check out eBay or big stores like Cabelas and Bass Pro Shops. Most of the time these calls retail for about $150 but you might be able to get a good deal second hand or through eBay!
If you are looking for something new with similar specs, the Inferno is the replacement model for the FOXPRO Wildfire 2.
What’s the range of this caller?
The sound remains crisp even at full volume and the full range that’s available for this unit is usually about 50-60 yards at maximum capacity.
Some reviews have said that when it’s cold, operating at this distance can start to become an issue. But for the most part, you’ll reliably be able to project the sound with just the singular internal speaker out to 50 or 60 yards.
If you really need more sound, there is the option of adding another speaker using the external jack.
Verdict On The FOXPRO Wildfire
While there aren’t as many pre-programmed sounds with this little caller as others in the FOXPRO line, this is a durable and capable unit!
With the extremely lightweight design, this digital game call doesn’t take up much more room than a flashlight in your hunting kit and you still have plenty of options to be able to customize your experience when you head out in the field.
If you’re just getting started, skip investing in super-expensive callers and opt for this quality unit to get the job done!
